Incredible Time-Lapse Pictures From The ISS

What Happens When An Astronaut Uses Timelapse

While Reid Wiseman can be considered the social butterfly of the International Space Station it's Don Pettit who can take the claim of being the station's official photographer.

Using his long-lens SLR the astronaut has taken some of the most incredible pictures of Earth and the stars around him.

His most recent endeavour are a series of stunning long exposure pictures that have been taken using 30-second exposure pictures which have then been 'stitched' together using computer software.

The results are -- as you can see -- utterly captivating, combining the fluidity of the stars movement with the static nature of the space station in the foreground.

It's hard not to feel jealousy when you realise that these guys wake up to this every single day.
