Whether your family uses Christmas as an excuse to wear Rudolph pyjamas all day, dons matching novelty knits or dresses to the nines for that special Christmas lunch, nothing says holiday spirit like a little sparkle - just be sure to keep it sophisticated to avoid clashing with the tree.
Opt for a glam graphic print dress, finished off with faux fur accessories and heels for a dramatic statement, or add a refined twist to an everyday look with an embellished white button-down blouse and smart gold leather skirt. And don't forget the importance of practicality and think about what you'll be doing on the day (and dress accordingly).
"Be savvy with your outfit choice. A sleeveless knit means you won't get too hot in the kitchen, while a statement necklace will distract from an expanding post-lunch waistline," advises Barton.
New Year's Eve
Let the countdown to 2015 begin! This is the night to go bold or go home: embrace embellishments with a sparkly sequinned dress, take your favourite cocktail dress out on the town underneath a statement two-tone faux fur coat and swap the LBD for the LBJ - the little black jumpsuit. Just add a leather jacket and statement earrings for effortless cool.
