Despite joking that she’d had her “fingers crossed” that Ant and Dec would announce her name as the next celebrity to leave, she confessed she’d had a “bloody marvellous” time in the jungle.

She explained: “I thought it would be horrible and was prepared to grit my teeth and do it, but they were a terrific bunch of people.

"Physically, it was very hard - I had done a fair bit of camping but not like this."

With just three celebrities left in the camp now, the former MP said she’d be happy to see any of them crowned the winner, saying: “They're all great and all of them would be a worthy winner. But I’d vote for my Jakey.”

Edwina has made no secret of the fact she has a soft spot for former ‘X Factor’ singer Jake Quickenden, claiming that the sight of him working out shirtless was “an old lady’s dream”.

She’s also spoken candidly about being sexually frustrated while camping out in the Australian jungle, and even regaled the rest of the celebs with the story of how she lost her virginity when she was 20 years old.

Jake will be fighting it out with Melanie Sykes and Carl Fogarty to be crowned this year’s winner of ‘I’m A Celebrity’ in Sunday night’s live final, which kicks off on ITV at 9pm.
