Benedict And Eddie Set For SAG Awards Battle

Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne are set to go head-to-head in the battle for the Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor gong at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

The two actors and their respective films, ‘The Imitation Game’ and ‘The Theory Of Everything’ have both picked up three nominations ahead of the ceremony, which is often seen as an indicator for who’s likely to nab an Oscar.

Benedict has also received a nomination for his leading role in 'Sherlock'.

The movie ‘Birdman’ is up for four gongs, including individual nods for its stars Michael Keaton, Edward Norton and Emma Stone, while ‘Cake’ has earnt Jennifer Aniston a nomination.

In the television categories, a number of fan favourites are up for awards, including ‘Orange Is The New Black’, ‘Downton Abbey’ and ‘Game Of Thrones’.

The winners will be announced on 25 January.
