15 People Who Think Enoch Powell Would Have Been Good For Ukip

This weekend it was revealed that Nigel Farage once tried to gain the public backing of the hugely controversial Enoch Powell, infamous for his 'Rivers of Blood' speech.

In it, the late Tory MP warned against immigration and laws that forbade discriminating on the grounds of race in areas such as housing.

He was subsequently sacked and his "racist" speech has become synonymous with xenophobia and intolerance ever since.

Despite this, many people on Saturday asked what exactly was wrong with Farage courting Powell. In fact, he's apparently what's missing from UK politics.

Think the word is 'towers'...

Farage has previously declared Powell as his political hero and endorsed the "basic principle" of the warnings about mass immigration made by Powell.

Earlier this week on Question Time, Russell Brand said of Farage: "This man is not a cartoon character. He ain't Delboy. He ain't Arthur Daley.

"He's a pound-shop Enoch Powell and we've got to watch him."

Not sure being a Tory automatically makes you a good person.

Ah, the good old days.

Well, until the letters to Pol Pot surface...

Such praise.

Steady on.

On a completely unrelated note, here's Enoch Powell on a pogo stick.

'Devoid' is a strong word.

Apparently an education cancels it all out...

Always consider 'The Trench Scenario'...

Yeah i100!

'Prophet' might be a bit much...

Aww...
