Quentin Sommerville is not usually a man to corpse on camera, not even in the face of Taliban bullets, US air raids or the Israel Defence Forces's iron dome.
But the veteran BBC correspondent has revealed one thing that caused him to absolutely lose it - a bonfire of heroin and hash.
The Middle East correspondent released the video, entitled 'Don't Inhale' last night with the tweet: "It's been a year of bullets & bloodshed. You've earned a xmas laugh, at my expense."
The video, apparently shot in Afghanistan four years ago, shows Sommerville in a pink shirt standing in front of a burning pile of narcotics.
“Burning behind me is eight-and-a-half tonnes of heroin, opium, hashish and other narcotics,” Sommervillle starts his piece, before emitting a high-pitched squeal of laughter.
Clearly feeling the effects of the drug-infused smoke, he tries again. “Burning behind me..." he manages to say, but then collapses into giggles again.
Knowing he has to make it work, he urges the cameraman, "Quick, quick, we just need one more.." but then both men started laughing uncontrollably.
The video was later deleted by Sommerville, but copies are online.
A spokesman for the BBC said: “The video of Quentin corpsing, which has now been deleted, was posted in the spirit of a blooper.
"It was filmed four years ago - it hasn't been seen before and was never broadcast.”
Sommerville has had fun with a number of Christmas-themed tweets from warzones, showing images of suitcase to his 24,000 followers - which includes Christmas tree baubles, Earl Grey tea, charcuterie and Tunnock's milk chocolate tea cakes.
