Jake Wood, who plays Max Branning in the soap, showed off his sense of humour at the darts world championship this weekend, by jokingly fessing up to Lucy’s murder.

As cameras panned to him during the tense match between… well… two darts players, we’re guessing, he held up a sign with “I Killed Lucy” written on it, along with a shocked face.

While we can’t rule out Max as a suspect in Lucy’s murder case - he was, after all, having a secret affair with her right before her death - we’re guessing Jake’s joke isn’t to be taken seriously, especially considering his big grin immediately afterwards.

We’re growing ever-closer to discovering the identity of Lucy’s murderer, with the killer due to be revealed during a special week of live episodes, to celebrate 30 years of ‘EastEnders’.

Of course, last year we got to see a very different side to Jake thanks to his appearance on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, which saw him donning brightly-coloured lycra and sequins, shaking his snake-hips and even trying a spot of twerking - all in the name of Saturday night entertainment.
