'Corrie' Stars Pay Tribute To Co-Star After Police Discover Body

The stars of ‘Coronation Street’ have been paying tribute to Trevor Smith after police discovered a body thought to be that of the actor.

The 42-year-old, who had starred in ‘Corrie’, ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Hollyoaks’, was last seen at his home in Wirksworth, Derbyshire, on Monday night.

Police revealed that a man’s body had been found in a quarry by their officers and was believed to be that of the TV performer. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

In a statement, Derbyshire police said: "Police searching for missing man have discovered a body in a Wirksworth quarry.

"Officers believe that the body found this afternoon is Trevor Smith, who was also known as Trevor Hancock."

Trevor was reported missing by concerned relatives shortly before 10pm on Monday.

Antony Cotton and Kym Marsh led tributes on Twitter, with Antony tweeting: “Love life and live life because you just never know… With great sadness, @Ecclestonshire and I have just raised a glass to our friend and colleague who died today. Rest in peace my friend.”

Kym Marsh said: “Very sad news today. Still in shock. A huge loss for us all RIP to an amazing guy #so young."

Samia Ghadie tweeted: “Be grateful for every second of every day that you get to spend with the people you love. Life is so precious.”

Catherine Tyldesley, who plays Eva, wrote: "Just awful. A true gentleman. So thoughtful, kind and gentle. RIP. Gods new angel.”

Trevor had been a professional actor since 1991 and trained at Manchester’s Arden School of Theatre from 1996 to 1999.

He went on to play Kevin Dolan in ‘Corrie’ in 1999.

He also appeared in two episodes of 'Emmerdale' playing a character called Tom as well as having roles in 'Hollyoaks'.
