Rapere Drone: Mysterious Company Unveil Drone That'll Hunt Other Drones

This Drone Hunts Other Drones

A company that doesn't have a phone number, address or indeed anything other than a website is claiming to have produced a drone that within 2 minutes, can find, hunt and disable another drone.

Called the Rapere, the drone remains docked at the location it's protecting and then once activated will launch into the sky, find the drone and drop a simple countermeasure into the propellors of the drone.

While the act of disabling itself is almost laughably simple (high tensile wire dropped into the propellors), the method of finding the target drones is significantly more difficult.

The site's owners claim that the drone will be covered in cameras allowing it to create a 3D map of the surrounding area. Called 'structure in motion' the method would allow the drone to intelligently find a non-organic object and then lock on.

Having found the target drone, the Rapere would fly out and hover above the target and then drop the countermeasure, it would then land and charge up.

Considering the absolute lack of any proof that indeed they have a drone, it's important to take this with a pinch of salt.

That said, Hollywood has been searching for a way to prevent drones for months now after a quadcopter was able to capture the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens using nothing but a drone and an action camera.
