Cyclist Run Over And Assaulted Sought By Police After Footage Appears Online

Police Seeking Cyclist Hurt In Violent Hit And Run Video

Essex Police are hoping to identify a cyclist who filmed himself being run over and assaulted so they can investigate the incident.

Helmet cam footage, which was uploaded to YouTube, shows a van colliding the man, knocking him to the pavement.

The biker can be heard shouting "get off the phone you muppet" before the commercial vehicle veers towards him.

The original uploader of the footage deleted it from YouTube

An unidentified man then steps out from the van, which is marked 'Taylor Landscaping', and proceeds to argue with the cyclist.

The altercation quickly turns physical and the cyclist appears to be hit in the head, causing the helmet camera to fall off.

The video was filmed on Butts Green Road, Hornchurch, with the incident occurring over the railway bridge near Emerson Park Station.

Trust A Trader's managing director Gary McEwen said the landscaping firm had been suspended on their site when the video emerged.

Essex Police are aware of the video and have urged the man who filmed the footage to come forward.

They told the Romford Recorder: "Officers who have viewed the video believe the incident took place outside Essex, possibly in the Hornchurch area.

"We would urge the victim to contact his local police force on 101 so an investigation can begin."

The Huffington Post UK was unable to reach Billericay-based Taylor Landscaping for comment.

UPDATE: Essex Police have released a statement, saying: "A man has voluntarily attended Chelmsford station to give an account of the incident and it has now been established it took place in the Hornchurch area and the matter has been passed to the Metropolitan Police to investigate."
