Fashion Trends Spring/Summer 2015: Lavender

Lavender, that pale tint of violet, or lilac if you prefer, was a big deal on the Spring/Summer 2015 catwalks.

It's had an edgy update and it's anything but delicate. This shade just got sexy.

Think icy, metallic, textured separates that you can wear top-to-toe (honestly, try it) or team with your denim, leather, suede, neoprene wardrobe staples.

If you really want to make a statement, a matching eye colour will really turn heads.

Burberry, Mary Katrantzou, Christopher Kane and Chanel (lavender pinstripe shirts with embellished sleeves and tweed skirts) mixed in this sultry shade on the S/S 2015 runways, so investing in at least one lavender piece is key.

It's fresh and feminine (but not OTT girly), plus looks great when you've got a bit of a tan going on. Day wear wise, a lavender military-style shirt tucked into a pencil skirt with cut-out ankle boots or flatforms looks great. As does a basic tee with culottes.

For evening attire, a shorter semi-dress is a winner. Especially when paired with a gladiator sandal, boxy clutch and stacks of bangles. Layered accessories are everything this summer.

We've shopped around for the coolest lavender gear going right now and spied a padded bomber jacket from H&M (£49.99), slip-on sandals from Primark (£3), knitted jumper from Topshop (£38) and Medusa medallion bracelet from Ssense (£312).

If you're buying on a budget, no problem. If you've got cash to splash, go all out - this Jasmine terry-towelling swimsuit from Matches Fashion (£250) will be worth the investment.
