Christian Blogger Stops Wearing Leggings Because They Cause Men To Have 'Lustful Thoughts'

This Christian Blogger Says Leggings Cause Men To Have 'Lustful Thoughts'

Yoga pants and leggings are a staple in most women's wardrobes.

But one Christian blogger has caused a stir online by saying that she will no longer be wearing either because they cause men other than her husband to have "lustful thoughts” about her.

In a blogpost titled Why I Chose To No Longer Wear Leggings, Veronica Partridge says:

"For the past several months, I have been having a conviction weighing heavy on my heart. I tried ignoring it for as long as I could until one day a conversation came up amongst myself and a few others (both men and women).

"The conversation was about leggings and how when women wear them it creates a stronger attraction for a man to look at a woman’s body and may cause them to think lustful thoughts.

"God really changed my heart in the midst of that conversation and instead of ignoring my convictions, I figured it was time I start listening to them and take action."

Partridge goes on to say that she bought the subject up with her husband Dale, a CEO and motivational speaker.

His response was: "Yeah, when I walk into a place and there are women wearing yoga pants everywhere, it’s hard to not look. I try not to, but it’s not easy.”

Many on Twitter have been quick to question the 25-year-old mothers decision to ditch her leggings because of their supposed affect on men.

But some also sympathise with her view on leggings.

Following the attention her blog post has gained, she has deleted her Instagram account and Partridge added this disclaimer to the top of the article:

"Let me just start off by saying, I am in NO WAY trying to tell people what they can and cannot wear. What you wear is entirely your own choice. I am just sharing my personal story on why I chose to no longer wear yoga pants or leggings in public."

As far as we're concerned, a woman has the right to choose what she wears. If Partridge doesn't want to wear leggings, then that's her prerogative.

But there's something disturbing about a woman feeling obliged to change the way she dresses through fear of being leered at by men. And perhaps that says more about the world we live in and how a women is treated than her own preferences.
