12 Women Who Make The Tuxedo Trend Look Good

The tuxedo trend is getting a really good rep right now.

So much so that it's being worn on the red carpet by our favourite celebrity ladies. Yes, Julia Roberts. Yes, Emma Stone at the SAG Awards in that black Dior Couture tux jacket and sheer skirt number.

While women working the tux trend is no new thing (see: Bianca Jagger circa 1979, Brigitte Bardot throughout the 1960s, Katharine Hepburn on the silver screen) it's had a sexy overhaul.

Getting suited and booted now means all of the following: no bra (and some serious tit tape), a gold chain necklace that accentuates your cleavage (a la Jen), satin lapels, minimal button/pocket detailing and a killer pair of stilettos.

On the footwear front? Flats are only ok if you're opting for cropped, tailored trousers. Otherwise it's all about a sexy heel, especially if you're doing wide-leg flares and a cropped jacket.

Peep-toe sandals are fine, but a pointed toe is a lot sharper.

Colour wise, black is your shade du jour. Classic, sophisticated - you know the score. The marsala (Pantone's colour of the year) Gucci suit that Jen wore to the 2015 Critics' Choice Awards is how to mix things up and then there's pinstripe or print to think about.
