A North Somerset teen has been excluded from school after shaving his head to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research.

After seeing the disease affect members of his family, the 14-year-old started the campaign on JustGiving. But the headmaster at the Churchill Academy deemed the haircut "too extreme" and punished the boy.

Stan decided to set up a petition which has received over 1,000 signatures, but the school demands he stays in exclusion until his hair has grown to "at least a number two".

Before the uproar over his exclusion, Stan had raised more than £200 for Macmillan. The figure now stands at almost £5,000.

"I'd hoped the school would have shown some element of judgment and would have made an exception."
