Martine McCutcheon has given birth to her first child - a baby boy.

The former EastEnders and West End star announced the news and revealed her new son's name on Twitter in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday February 5).

"Thank u all 4 my lovely messages!" the 38-year-old wrote. "Baby Raffery is beautiful! Mop of dark hair, heart shaped face and Cupid lips - I'm in love big time :-)"

Martine's tweet prompted comments about her 'unusual' choice of baby name, with people remarking that Raffery was a lovely variation on the Irish boy's name Rafferty, which means 'prosperous' according to our Baby Names Finder. But it turns out that Martine's inventive spelling may have been nothing more than a typo (and who can blame her after an exhausting night in labour), as her husband Jack McManus, 30, cleared up the confusion this morning.

"We are delighted to announce the birth of our baby boy Rafferty Jack McManus! Born at 10:16am on 4th February weighing 6lbs 14oz," he told Hello! magazine.

"Mum and baby are both beautiful and doing well and I'm the proudest Dad in the world right now. X"
