While Hollywood's leading ladies displayed sleek, sophisticated style at the BAFTAs in London, the dress code on the red carpet at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles was definitely different.

The fashion was brighter, bolder and above all, very sparkly. The biggest trend of the night? Metallic.

Leading this trend was winner of the Best Surround Album prize Beyoncé. She wowed in two black dresses - a Proenza Schouler gown followed by a shorter LBD by Balmain after her performance.

There was no shortage of sparkle from Kim Kardashian either who wore an embellished bronze dress from Jean Paul Gaultier's Spring/Summer 2015 Couture collection, while Lady Gaga showcased her flashy style in a silver Brandon Maxwell gown.

Brits Rita Ora and Jessie J embraced the dazzling trend, too. The current judge of The Voice Rita showed off her shorter cropped hair do in a long-sleeved Prada design - the 'Bang, Bang' singer turned heads in a sheer, floor-sweeping dress by Ralph & Russo.

As for the least wearable? Rihanna's Giambattista Valli gown sparked comparisons to a giant pink cupcake while Madonna proved it's never too old to flash your bum in a Givenchy bodysuit teamed with fishnets and thigh-high boots.
