Julianne Moore proved why she’s the class act of this year’s Awards Season, with a moving and heartfelt acceptance speech as she collected her BAFTA for Best Leading Actress for her role in ‘Still Alice’.
In the film, Julianne plays a respected linguistic professor, Dr Alice Howland, who struggles to hold onto her identity, as she deals with early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease.

The actress used her moment of victory to draw attention to the many who suffer with the condition, and to name-check three patients - Gillian, Wendy and Christopher - for speaking with her about their illness at the Curzon cinema "just the other night".

In a heartwarming aside, it turns out the winners of this year's Best Leading acting gongs are firm friends with Julianne Moore helping Eddie Redmayne to get one of his earliest film roles, in the film 'Savage Grace'.
The film was based on a book about the real-life Bakelite heiress and socialite Barbara Daly Baekeland, played by Julianne, and her schizophrenic son Antony, played by Eddie, who was eventually arrested for her murder.
