A reddit user has claimed that their Samsung TV has started randomly showing adverts while watching films, even if you own the content.

The anonymous user reported that while watching something being streamed from his own hard drive, the TV would insert a Pepsi advert into the content every 20-30 minutes.

"Just googled this to find out what the hell is going on. Never has this in the 2 months I have been using plex but today all of sudden it has begun. Thanks god I am not the only one.

Every movie I play 20-30 minutes in it plays the pepsi ad, no audio but crisp clear ad. It has happened on 6 movies today.

Oh yes mine is a samsung tv also"

At first it was believed that that the advert could be coming from the Plex app that was being used to stream the movie however Plex has denied any involvement with the error.

Gigaom reports that this isn't the only incident, other users in Australia are also suffering from a similar problem but this time while using the Foxtel TV service.

We contacted Samsung and a spokesperson got back to us saying:

"We are aware of a situation that has caused some Smart TV users in Australia to experience program interruption in the form of an advertisement. This seems to be caused by an error, and we are currently conducting a full and thorough investigation into the cause as our top priority. This situation has so far been reported only in Australia. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience experienced by our customers."
