'Yoga Pants Should Be Illegal': Montana Lawmaker Wants You To Cover Your Booty At All Times

This Idiot Wants To Make Yoga Pants Illegal

Most women into fitness will own at least one pair of yoga pants.

But in America, the wardrobe staple could soon be made illegal. And no, this isn't an excerpt from an IS manifesto - this is in the state of Montana if a Republican representative gets his way.

On Tuesday, David Moore introduced a bill that would extend the already-existing indecent exposure law to include any article of clothing that reveals the nipples - men's or women's - or "gives the appearance or simulates" a person's buttocks, genitals or pelvic area.

"Yoga pants should be illegal in public anyway," Moore reportedly said after the hearing.

According to the US Associated Press, Moore said he wouldn’t have a problem with people being arrested for wearing provocative clothing, such as yoga pants.

But he added that he trusts law enforcement officials to use their discretion.

Under current laws in Montana, a person convicted of indecent exposure three times could get a life sentence in jail.

Moore’s bill lessens that sentence to a maximum of five years in jail and a $5,000 (£3,300) fine.

The Republican's somewhat bizarre proposal comes after Christian blogger Veronica Partridge said she would no longer wear leggings or yoga pants in public because they cause men other than her husband to have "lustful thoughts”.

Yoga pants and leggings are comfy fitness items - they're hardly leather chaps à la Christina Aguilera.

Surely the onus should be on men to stop hypersexualising the female body, rather than on women to dress "more discreetly"?
