Apple Macs Might Get TouchID Fingerprint Scanner

Will The MacBook Get Touch ID?

Apple could release a new MacBook Air that features the same Touch ID fingerprint recognition technology found on the iPhone 6.

A Taiwanese technology blog that successfully predicted Touch ID appearing on the iPhone has now heard reports that Apple is looking to bring the security feature to its MacBook range as well.

9to5Mac reports that Apple will include the software on both the much-rumoured 12-inch MacBook Air Retina and on an upgraded version of the MacBook Pro with Retina Display that's available now.

These reports would certainly tie in with the news that Apple is integrating Apple Pay with the Apple Watch allowing you to authenticate purchases simply by placing your thumb on the Touch ID sensor.

Despite a widespread public opinion shift in favour of biometric security, some security experts are warning that the technology isn't a complete replacement for passwords as it can potentially be hacked.
