The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge has reportedly agreed to a “trial separation” from Lara, who is said to have moved out of the North London home they share on Monday night, and taken their one-year-old son Alfred with her.

Those close to David are said to be “shocked” at the news of their split, with one source telling The Sun: “Everyone thought the marriage was strong.

“[He] hopes it is a blip and that they can get the marriage back on track somehow, especially seeing as there is a child involved. He is still fiercely protective of Lara.”

As recently as last December, the pair were among the celebrities who attended Elton John’s wedding, where the newspaper have claimed that there was “no clue” their relationship was in trouble.

The couple first began dating in 2009, and announced their engagement just four months later, after he proposed while they were on holiday together in Los Angeles.

David is best known for his work in ‘Little Britain’, alongside comedian Matt Lucas, and more recently established a career as a children’s author.

Lara, a model, recently landed a job modelling for Calvin Klein, appearing in a campaign alongside popstar Justin Bieber.
