It was announced last month that, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Eurovision, Australia would be allowed to send a wildcard entry into this year’s competition, who has now been confirmed as Guy Sebastian.

We guess Dannii Minogue was busy.

As Australia’s one-off performer, Guy has been given a fastpass to this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Vienna on 23 May.

He says: “It's incredibly exciting to be given the opportunity to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest.

"It is the biggest music event in the world with an amazing history and tradition and I'm truly honoured to be invited to represent Australia in its first time ever in the competition."

The song he’ll be performing will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Guy first came to prominence as the first ever winner of ‘Australian Idol’, and has topped the singles chart Down Under on a number occasions.

More recently, he’s gone on to appear on the panel of ‘The X Factor’ in Australia, judging the talent for three series, alongside Mel B and Ronan Keating.

Conchita Wurst performs at London Pride

The acts competing in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest will have some big high-heeled shoes to fill after last year’s champion, Conchita Wurst, stormed to the top of the leaderboard, winning the competition with her song ‘Rise Like A Phoenix’ on behalf of her home country, Austria.

Since then she’s made a massive name for herself all over the world, speaking out about LGBT issues and equality - all while looking fabulous, of course - and will be presenting the green room coverage during this year’s live final.
