University of Oklahoma Fraternity Shut Down After Racist Video

US Fraternity Shut Down Over Racist Video

Warning: video contains explicit language.

A university has closed a branch of one of the largest fraternities in the United States after a video appeared online appearing to show its members participating in racist chanting.

The actions of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) fraternity, which has about 100 student members, sparked a protest by their peers. The Oklahoma University president David Boren said those involved in the video are a "disgrace".

A statement from SAE said: "We apologise for the unacceptable and racist behaviour of the individuals in the video, and we are disgusted that any member would act in such a way."

The video was first posted online on Sunday by Unheard, a black student group at OU, and first reported by student newspaper Oklahoma Daily.
