Toto bassist Mike Porcaro has died at the age of 59, after years suffering with motor neurone disease, it has been confirmed.
Mike’s death was confirmed by his bandmate Steve Lukather, who wrote on Facebook: “My brother Mike Porcaro is now now at peace. I will miss him more than I could ever put into words. My deepest love to the family. God Bless.”
The US -based band split in 2008, but reformed two years later, with a new line-up, to raise money for Mike following his diagnosis.
Toto formed in 1977, and during their 30 years in the music business, they had a number of hits.
The band, who are best-known for the tracks ‘Africa’ and ‘Hold The Line’, have sold over 35 millions albums worldwide.
In 2009, they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and also won six Grammys.
