The Fastest 4G In The UK Isn't In London, It's Liverpool

Liverpool has been named as having the fastest 4G signal in the country.

The city has an average download speed of 21.32Mbps according to research gathered by Mobiles.co.uk which used the OpenSignal app to test the signal of over 30,000 people across the country.

Surprisingly, Greater London was significantly lower than expected, achieving an average download speed of just 13.8Mbps.

While it might initially seem odd that London -- traditionally one of the first locations to receive network updates -- under performs the truth is far simpler than you might expect.

London's too full. With such a densely populated area, the amount of people all trying to use the same network simply means that it can't hope to compete with less populated areas that have the same level of infrastructure.
