#AssholeParent Photos Show How Parents Drive Reasonable Toddlers To Temper Tantrums

These Toddlers Think Their Parents Are Assholes For Absolutely No Reason

Toddlers lives are made difficult by parents who are - quite frankly - unreasonable in their demands.

You feed them 'broken' food, refuse to take responsibility for the weather and then you want them to smile for a photo... Seriously, how can you expect a child to live like this?!

Mum Kristen Howerton, who blogs at Rage Against The Minivan, has decided to hold her hands up to times when her toddler's tantrums were undeniably her fault.

"It really started as a hashtag I used one day, because my daughter was upset with me," Howerton tells HuffPost UK Lifestyle.

"I had served her a lunch on a pink plate with the pink cup, and cut her sandwich into a puzzle piece. I felt like I had put a good effort into it, but she was distraught because there was a yellow straw. So I caught a candid picture of it, and has grabbed it #assholeparent.

"Over the next couple of years, I would use that hashtag anytime I caught a candid picture of my kids being upset over something nice that I try to do for them. Crying at Disney, being upset at a birthday party, that kind of thing.

After sharing a few #assholeparent posts on her social media channels, Howerton noticed that other parents started to share their own confessions.

So she created a Tumblr and an Instagram account and invited mums and dads to submit their photos and anecdotes.

"It has grown like wildfire," she says. "I have more submissions than I can even use.

"I am surprised by the reaction, but it obviously resonates with other parents. I think we have all had the experience of children being mad at us over illogical things, and while it can be frustrating, it can also be hilarious.

"I'm hoping the account helps parents learn to laugh at this common phenomenon and feel less alone in the sometimes undignified moments of parenting."
