Rumours have been circulating since the shock announcement of Dermot’s departure that Olly and Caroline would be reuniting to host the show, with the ‘Heart Skips A Beat’ singer later claiming he would only be willing to take on the job if he could co-present with Caroline.

She said: "I'm beyond excited about presenting The X Factor with Olly. To have the privilege of doing this with someone who makes me laugh out loud is a massive bonus!"

Olly also expressed his excitement at taking on the new presenting job, adding: "I'm incredibly excited and proud to be returning to The X Factor alongside Caroline.

"I love the show and it kick-started my career in music which has given me the opportunity to do what I love. I already have the best job in the world and it's about to get better - I can't wait to get started and be part of finding some amazing new talent!”

Earlier this year, ‘X Factor’ executive producer Richard Holloway teased fans of the show with the news that “exciting changes” were on the way, adding: “We have been making the show for 10 years and to make it popular you have to refresh the show. You need to look at every aspect and move with the times.”

With the news of the show’s presenters confirmed, attention now turns to the judging panel, following rumours that there will be a shake-up this year.

While Simon Cowell has been confirmed to be returning for the show’s 12th series later this year, the rest of the judges’ positions on the panel are a lot less certain.

Reports have suggested that Louis Walsh could be facing the axe after 11 years as a judge, which he appeared to agree with himself when he told Irish TV: “I think I'm done with ‘X Factor’. I've done 11 seasons.

"That's a long time on television. I think they're going to change the show. I think they're going to get new faces."
