Wannabe “normal 22-year-old” Zayn Malik has broken his Twitter silence, after leaving One Direction last month.

Before Monday, the last time Zayn posted on his social media page was to deny rumours he had been unfaithful to his fiancée, Perrie Edwards, and since then he made headlines all over the world with the announcement that he was quitting 1D.

He’s now posted for the first time in a month, thanking his supporters for “being there for him” during this transitionary period in his life.
Aaaand then he posted something slightly less profound.
Yes, by the way, his username does still say ‘zaynmalik1D’, though we reckon you might want to cherish that while you still can.
Zayn claimed at the time of his departure from the group that he was quitting because he wanted to live the life of a “normal 22-year-old”, although it’s since been claimed he’s been in the studio working on solo material.
Reports have also suggested that music mogul Simon Cowell, who has looked after 1D since their formation on ‘The X Factor’ five years ago, wants to sign Zayn to his Syco record label as a solo artist.
Over the weekend, Zayn made his first public appearance since leaving the group, collecting an award for Outstanding Contribution to Music at the Asian Awards, where he debuted his newly-shaved head and a nose piercing.
During his acceptance speech, he thanked his former bandmates, who have remained insistent that they will be carrying on as a four-piece, following his exit from One Direction.
