Ed Miliband Called 'The Jew' By Derby Tory Candidate Gulzabeen Afsar

Tory Candidate Apologises For Calling Ed Miliband 'The Jew'

A Tory candidate has apologised for saying she could never support "the Jew" Ed Miliband.

Gulzabeen Afsar, who is a council candidate in the ward of Littleover in Derby, made the comment on Facebook.

She initially posted: “Just can’t take Mr Ed Miliband seriously!! DC has what it takes to be the future PM."

Someone replied that she should show respect for Miliband because he was the "future PM", she said: " “Nah bro! never ever will I drop that low and support the al yahud lol.”

Al Yahud is Arabic for "the Jew".

A Conservative Party spokesman told local paper The Derby Telegraph: "Her comment was offensive and wrong. She has removed it and apologised."

Baggy Shanker, a spokesman for the local Labour Party, told the paper: "As an ethnic minority councillor myself, it's very disappointing. I'd expect her to have better control of her comments."

Jay Stoll, from the Jewish Leadership Council (JLC), told The Jewish News: “This is clearly unacceptable and the relevant authorities should investigate this matter swiftly.”

The JLC tweeted:

Nick Lowles, from Hope Note Hate, described Afsar's treatment as "a mild ticking off".

Miliband is an atheist but defines himself as Jewish through his parentage. He has previously said he wanted to become Britain's first Jewish prime minister, forgetting that there's already been one.

This was interpreted to be a reference to the Holocaust, which saw the mass murder of six millions Jews and millions of other people leading up to and during the Second World War.

Large scale gas ovens were used for some of the mass killings.

Hopkins was warned: “You may have gone too far this time,” with another cautioning: “I seriously hope that wasn’t a joke aimed at Jewish people.”
