'Coronation Street' Star Alison King Quits Role Of Carla Connor After Nearly A Decade In The Show

Corrie Favourite Quits After A Decade On The Street

'Coronation Street' is set to lose another very familiar face, with Alison King confirming that she will be giving up the role of Carla Connor when her current contract ends in December.

Alison King has played Carla Connor for nine years, but is ready for a break

In 2006, Alison joined the show, where she plays factory boss Carla, but a Corrie spokeswoman confirmed last night that "she would like to take a sabbatical from the show for creative reasons... she wishes to try her hand at other projects before returning to the role".

Before she leaves the show, Alison's character Carla is set to be at the centre of a big storyline involving a fire at Victoria Court.

Alison joins a list of stars quitting the Cobbles this year, including Michelle Keegan, Chris Gascoyne and Julie Hesmondhalgh.
