UPDATE: David Cameron looks set to remain Prime Minister with Conservatives the largest single party in the new Parliament, according to an exit poll released as ballots closed in the General Election.
In what would be a disaster for both Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg if borne out by results, the joint BBC/ITN/Sky poll put Conservatives on 316 - just 10 short of the magic number of 326 needed to command an absolute majority in the House of Commons.
Labour were forecast to secure just 239 - 17 fewer than their tally at the start of the election campaign - with the Scottish National Party almost achieving a clean sweep of 58 of the 59 seats north of the border.
The results of the General Election 2015 will come in from 11pm on Thursday evening, and into the early morning of Friday 8 May - but exit polls giving an indication of the outcome will land a little earlier on Thursday night.

Adam Boulton will begin the coverage, joined by political editor Faisal Islam and polling expert Michael Thrasher. The first result is expected shortly before 11pm, from Sunderland.
Dermot Murnaghan will begin presenting at 5am, after the results have come out, and when the negotiations begin.

Election 2015 on BBC One
Starting from 9.55pm, BBC will cover the results overnight, hosted by David Dimbleby, who will pass the baton to Huw Edwards at 6am. The broadcaster has its own 'BBC Election Centre' where Andrew Neil will quiz politicians and experts, and Nick Robinson will give his verdict on the impact the result will have in the coming weeks. The programming will continue until 3.30pm on Friday and will switch to BBC Two at 2.45pm.

Alternative Election Night On Channel 4
From 9pm on Thursday night, Channel 4 gives its signature alternative treatment to the General Election results with Jeremy Paxman hosting to give the event serious gravitas. His co-host is David Mitchell, reflecting the night's comedic approach: it will also include Adam Hills, Aisling Bea and appearances from the cast of reality show Gogglebox, and visits to Channel 4's The Last Leg show.
