Gary Glitter has begun an appeal bid after he was found guilty of sex abuse.
Lawyers for the singer have lodged papers at the Court of Appeal after he was convicted of a string of sex attacks on girls as young as eight.
A spokesman for the court confirmed it had received notice that Glitter was seeking permission to appeal in March.

Glitter was jailed for 16 years in February after a jury at Southwark Crown Court found him guilty of one count of attempted rape, one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13, and four counts of indecent assault.
The court confirmed that the 71-year-old's appeal is against conviction although it is not known how many or which of the counts he is challenging.
The case is at an early stage and no hearing dates have been set. If he is granted permission to appeal, High Court judges will assess Glitter's claim.
Sentencing Glitter after his trial, Judge Alistair McCreath said: "I have read the victim impact statements of all three victims. It is clear, in their different ways, they were all profoundly affected by your abuse of them.
"You did all of them real and lasting damage and you did so for no other reason than to obtain sexual gratification for yourself of a wholly improper kind."
At his sentencing, fans turned out to support him and one waved from the court's public gallery, though he did not respond.
Glitter's appeal has been lodged under his real name Paul Gadd.
