Former ‘Brookside’ and ‘Family Affairs’ actor David Easter surprised viewers when he made his debut in yet another soap, playing a character simply credited as ‘Mystery Man’ on Tuesday’s ‘Hollyoaks’.

However, his character is going to be sticking around for a while, which will have huge consequences for one village resident in particular, as he’s playing the secret husband of Cindy Cunningham (played by Stephanie Waring).

While Cindy recently tied the knot with Dirk - making things official with him in an impromptu ceremony when she decided she wanted them to be married as soon as possible - she’s now been confronted by a ghost from her past, who could very well be about to cause some serious problems for her, with Digital Spy claiming his character is set to be a series regular.

Watch this space, ‘Hollyoaks’ fans - we think this one is going to get progressively messier as it unfolds…

David is best known to soap fans for his three-year stint in ‘Brookside’ as Pat Hancock, as well as playing Pete Callan for eight years on ‘Family Affairs’, until the show ended in 2005.

He also enjoyed a brief stint in ‘Emmerdale’ back in 2013, so there’s not much left for him to scratch off his ‘soap bingo’ card now.
