Genuine Hoverboard Sets A Guinness World Record For Furthest Distance Travelled

Someone Just Set The Best World Record Ever On A Genuine Hoverboard

For years we've been trawling the internet for the first working hoverboard that delivers on all our 'Back To The Future' dreams.

Well that search is now over, we've found it, and it just set a Guinness World Record.

Created by Catalin Alexandru Duru, this incredible propeller-based hoverboard set the record by travelling a distance of over two football pitches across the calm waters of Lake Ouareau in Quebec, Canada.

Don't think the water is a limitation though, it'll fly over any surface but considering its altitude of 5m Duru decided it was probably best to test it over one of nature's most effecient safety blankets.

Inspired by the iconic hoverboard from "Back To The Future", Duru spent 12 months slaving away on his designs until he created this prototype.

Travelling 275.9 m at speed is just the start though, Duru plans to start really pushing his design to the limit testing how high it'll go and how fast.

There to watch the iconic event was a spokesperson from the Guinness Book of World Records who said:

“This is a truly mesmerising and incredible feat in the world of engineering and transportation. It’s always pleasing to see individuals such as Catalin Alexandru Duru achieve a Guinness World Records titles such as this in which personal endeavour continues to amaze us all.”

For years it seemed that creating the hoverboard was going to be nothing more than a pipe dream, a form of travel that would be cruelly out of our reach until some revolutionary new technology was developed.

While some tried using magnets, and others just cheated with magic, Duru seems to be the first person to have genuinely cracked the formula needed to build a working, safe and controllable hoverboard.
