The Saturdays singer could be signed up to front the new series when it returns later this year, according to The Sun.
A source told the paper: “The decision over who will take over on the ‘The Xtra Factor’ will be made soon and Rochelle is one of the leading contenders.
“She’s got a lot of presenting experience, she’s funny and likeable and knows how the pop game works”.
Previous host Sarah Jane Crawford announced she was leaving the show after just one series last month.
Rochelle’s ‘Sweat The Small Stuff’ co-star and Capital FM DJ Melvin Odoom is also believed to have auditioned.
Previous ‘Xtra Factor’ hosts Caroline Flack and Olly Murs will be fronting the main show when it returns in August, having taken over from Dermot O’Leary, who stood down earlier this year after eight years at the helm.
The judging panel is also undergoing a revamp, and while Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini are likely to return, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora have been touted as replacements for the axed Louis Walsh and Mel B.
