Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, Antony said: “[That] takes me to August next year. I can’t do both – you’ve got to dedicate your life to ‘Strictly’.

“It is one of my favourite television shows and I would bite their hand off, but my loyalties lie at ‘Coronation Street’ and I’ve signed for another year there. I love it there – that’s my second family.”

He is the latest star to rule himself out of ‘Strictly’ as earlier this week, former ‘X Factor’ host Dermot O’Leary denied he would be taking part.

Other celebs rumoured for the new series include Peter Andre, Alan Titchmarsh and Sarah Jane Crawford, with EastEnders’ Shane Richie said to be at the top of producers’ wish lists.

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returns to BBC One in the autumn.
