The Humans of New York page documents the lives of New Yorkers through stunning portraits and captions.

Their latest post comes exactly one week after same-sex marriage was legalised in all 50 states in the US.

It has since been shared nearly 60,000 times and has generated over 600,000 likes. Additionally, it has racked up more than 55,000 comments - most of which offer heartfelt words of advice to the youngster.

Hillary Clinton was among the thousands of people offering messages of support. She wrote: "Prediction from a grown-up: Your future is going to be amazing.

"You will surprise yourself with what you're capable of and the incredible things you go on to do. Find the people who love and believe in you - there will be lots of them."

One day after Clinton's post, Ellen DeGeneres added her two cents. She said: "Not only will people like you, they'll love you. I just heard of you and I love you already."

But perhaps some of the most thoughtful and touching responses were from members of the LGBT community who could relate to the teenage boy.

One Facebook user, Billy Riley, wrote: "I'm a homosexual and my future is bright and people love and adore me. And all I had to do was be myself."

While another, Ben Gamache, added: "I'm homosexual too, little man. My future is bright and I am loved. Most importantly, I love ME and wouldn't change a thing about myself.

"The same can and will absolutely hold true for you. Sending you strength."
