'Coronation Street': Deirdre Barlow Tribute Book To Be Published Following Anne Kirkbride's Death

'Corrie' Bosses Reveal Plans For Deirdre Tribute Book

‘Coronation Street’ fans who are dreading the upcoming moment where they have to say goodbye to Deidre Barlow will be delighted to hear that a book celebrating the character is set to be released.

Ken and Deirdre's wedding is one of the many moments that will feature in the book

Now, Century, a division of Random House, have revealed plans for ‘Deirdre: A Life On Coronation Street’, which will pay tribute to one of soapland’s best-loved and well-known icons.

The book will include plenty of trips down memory lane, and classic storyline details, along with never-before-seen snaps.

‘Corrie’ fans will need the tissues at the ready for the next few weeks, as Deirdre’s exit storyline plays out in Weatherfield.

Anne’s husband David Beckett has worked with soap’s bosses to ensure his wife’s character gets a suitable send-off, and Bill Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, previously shared his sadness at filming the scenes.

“It’s very, very strange because we’re actually filming the funeral of Deirdre and I had a scene as Ken where I’m given Deirdre's glasses, but of course Annie wore them for 30 years, so you certainly don’t need any motivation for the acting,” he said. “We’re always on the verge [of tears].”

‘Deidre: A Life On Coronation Street’ will be published on 22 October 2015.
