This is the shocking moment a small sky-diving plane was forced to land on a busy road after running out of power.

The five-passenger plane can been seen coming in to land on a dual carriageway in Stafford Township, New Jersey, narrowly missing several vehicles, before swerving onto the grass-covered central reservation.

According to US news outlet NBC, the road the main route to and from the tourist destination of Long Beach Island.

The single-engine aircraft is understood to have been carrying students from a nearby sky-diving school.

Despite the heart-stopping touchdown, the only injury among the group was a cut to the instructor's arm.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
