Michael Spinney, a die-hard fan of the BBC show, left the Beacon School in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, after serving as head from 1999 to 2009, and the from 2013 to this year.
As the incoming head William Phelps was still working in New York, the pair decided to make the video message for the students, which received a standing ovation.
