Lord Sugar Thanks Police For Catching Teen Who Tweeted Him Anti-Semitic Messages

Teenager Sentenced Over Anti-Semitic Tweet Sent To Lord Sugar

A teenager has been ordered to pay compensation to Lord Alan Sugar after sending an anti-Semitic tweet.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, sent The Apprentice star messages, including one beginning "old Jewish" followed by a swear-word.

Lord Sugar thanked police for pursuing the boy who sent the tweet

The boy from Preston, Lancashire, admitted sending an offensive tweet at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

He was ordered to pay £100 in compensation, £85 in costs and must complete an eight-month referral to a youth offender panel, the court said.

Lord Sugar reacted on Twitter, saying: "One of my Twitter racial abusers was convicted yesterday at Chelmsford Magistrates Court. Very well done @EssexPoliceUK for tracking him down".

When someone remonstrated with him, saying the police "surely have better things to do".

Lord Sugar replied: "They do but the level of abuse was so great I had to ask for help and am truly grateful."
