Uggie the dog, who stole our hearts with his star turn in ‘The Artist’, has died, at the age of 13.
The Jack Russell’s owner Omar Von Mueller has shared his sadness with TMZ, telling the website that Uggie was put down, after battling a prostate illness.

Sarah Clifford, who trained Uggie for ‘The Artist’ in 2011, which was shot in the style of a silent film, adds: “I will forever hold him dearly in my heart and never forget his infinite love for chicken and hotdogs."
While the Oscar-winning film was his most famous role, Uggie also starred in a number of other big projects, including Reese Witherspoon’s film ‘Water For Elephants’.
He wasn’t eligible for an Oscar, but Uggie scooped a special Palm Dog award for ‘The Artist’, at the Cannes Film Festival.
Uggie later became the first canine to have paw prints outside the Grauman’s Chinese theatre, on Hollywood Boulevard.
