Also taking to the dancefloor will be Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine and TV chef Ainsley Harriott, who have both already been confirmed for the show.

Georgia - whose involvement in the new series was announced on 'BBC Breakfast' on Thursday morning - said she couldn't wait to get started.

“I am so excited to be part of Strictly 2015," she said. "It is something I have always wanted to take part in and now I just can’t wait to get started.

"I love dancing and I love a challenge so this is the perfect experience for me."

Manchester born Georgia has been appearing on British television since 2004. She has scored roles in a number of well-known British television shows such as 'Life on Mars', 'Doctors', 'Casualty', 'Heartbeat', 'Emmerdale' and 'This Is England 86'.

But Georgia is best known for playing the role of Katy Armstrong in 'Coronation Street'.

After four years, Georgia left the show earlier this year but after a six month break she says she is now looking forward to hitting the 'Strictly' dance floor.
