Miley Cyrus’ turn as the host of the MTV VMAs proved to be as controversial as expected, as she donned a number of revealing outfits, continued her public spat with Nicki Minaj and made a series of drug references.
The ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer was asked to host the annual awards show following her now infamous performance with Robin Thicke at the event in 2013.

But Miley topped her outrageous antics at Sunday (30 August) night’s ceremony, which was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
The star kicked off the evening by taking to the red carpet wearing next to nothing, in an outfit made from silver straps and big dangling jewels.
She then changed into 10 other ensembles, most of which proved to be just as revealing.

Miley also suffered an embarrassing moment while getting changed backstage, when she accidentally exposed her bare breast to the camera.
She tried to cover her naked self with a black curtain as she presented a live link, but let it slip, exposing herself.
MTV bosses had broadcast the show on a live delay in a bid to cover up some of Miley’s more crazy moments, but it appears many still made it to air.
Miley courted controversy by making a series of drug references throughout the live show.
The singer has been open about her own drug use in the past, and was seen lighting a joint backstage.

She also asked the crowd to say “marijuana” instead of “cheese” as she posed for a photo with them, while also pretending to ingest the drug via various baked goods.
Meanwhile, Miley’s public spat with Nicki Minaj rumbled on, as the pair came to blows as the rapper picked up the award for Best Hip Hop video.
They have been at odds after Miley hit out at Nicki in an interview, after she went on a massive Twitter rant for not being nominated for Video Of The Year, which also saw her embroiled in a row with Taylor Swift.
Towards the end of her speech, Nicki turned around and branded her rival a “b****”.
“And now back to this b**** that had a lot to say to me in the press. What's good?” she said.

Trying to play things down, Miley replied: “We are all in this industry, we all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate s***. Nicki congratulations.”
Miley finished the evening with a colourful performance of her new song ‘Do It’, announcing that she would be dropping a surprise album, ‘Miley Cyrus And Her Dead Petz’ online after the show.
