Couple Reunited After Message On €20 Note Goes Viral

When Denise O’Reilly took a €20 note out of her purse last week, she noticed it had a message scribbled on it.

It simply read: "Christy, it’s always been you! Come and find me – Megan x".

O’Reilly, from County Meath, Ireland, posted a picture of the note on Facebook to try and unite the mystery pair.

Her Facebook status was shared more than 3,000 times by hopeless romantics, and it didn't take long for someone to tag Christy Leech in the post.

And low and behold, it looks like O’Reilly's effort may have paid off.

"Megan was the name I used to call my ex-girlfriend. We went out for a year and a half. The name arose from when I misheard her name and thought she was Megan for our first week of dating. Then it stuck," Leech told TodayFM.

Leech is a musician and he once wrote "Megan" a song called It’s Always Been You - hence the cryptic line in the note.

After 18 months the couple broke up and she began dating someone else. But when he saw the note on Facebook, Leech called his ex to see if she'd had a change of heart.

"She told me she had written it on a note she used to pay into one of my gigs about 6 months ago. I didn't know she was there. She told me she thought I'd get the cash directly but I obviously didn't. She took it that I didn't want to talk," he explained.

So does this story have a happy ending? Well, kind of.

Leech said: "Now we're in touch again but the situation is quite different."

Fingers crossed things work out for the pair of them.
