Gored To Death By A Bull: 12th Man Killed In Spain This Summer

12th Man Gored To Death By A Bull In A Single Spanish Summer

A 66-year-old man has died after being gored to death by a bull, making him the twelfth person to be killed in a bull-related incident in Spain this summer.

Horrific footage captured the moment that the man was charged at by the animal and dragged several meters through the dust.

Locals rushed onto the streets to help but he was already dead by the time emergency medical staff arrived.

Graphic footage showed the bull pull the man across the floor

The unnamed victim of the attack was a spectator at a run in the central town of Cuéllar.

He was stood at a vulnerable spot at the bottom of a steep hill and the animal hit him as it ran around a bend.

An organiser of the run told The Local: "The descent was rapid and dangerous,

"One of the bulls gored a person who was on the urban side of the run."

This year’s death-toll is now the the highest since 2000. Since then, 74 people have been killed by bulls across Spain.

The run in Cuéllar, a town with a population of 10,000 north of Madrid, is one of the oldest in Spain and dates back to the 13th century.

Last month comedian and ardent animal rights activist Ricky Gervais sided with a bull, when a matador was killed during a festival in Lerin, northern Spain.

Gervais also posted a video in which he said: "I mean the truth is I do prefer the bull to win.

"I'd rather you didn't fight a bull, but if you do - if you choose to torture an animal to death for fun - I hope it defends itself and self defense is no offence."
