Radio station LBC is being investigated by Ofcom after one of its veteran presenters said listeners should assault striking London Underground staff.
Steve Allen, 61, reportedly told his 4am to 6.30am audience they should “beat up” Tube workers taking industrial action last month. The remark comes weeks after his colleague James O'Brien spoke out in favour of transport bosses.
A listener of the veteran broadcaster’s show said the comment was “likely to encourage violent and criminal behaviour”.

Ofcom is investigating whether the comment was likely to “encourage or incite crime”.
The RMT union told the Evening Standard it was too early to comment on the matter.
Allen, from Bromley, south London, is promoted by LBC as having a “caustic tongue”.

The station has said the complaint is being investigated, but declined to comment further.
The investigation comes as the Rail, Maritime and Transport union suspended planned strikes on September 8 and 10 over plans for the night Tube in London.
Last week London Underground announced the launch of the new Tube service, which was due to begin on September 12, had been postponed until a later date in autumn.
Discussions between the union and Tube bosses are said to be ongoing.
