Watch The Nail-Biting Moment Firefighters Rescue A Cat Stranded Six Floors High

A cat miraculously managed to evade death after a haphazard rescue in Brazil on Monday.

In a gripping rescue caught on camera, the feline can be seen stranded on top of an air conditioning unit six floors above the ground.

As firefighters endeavour to catch the animal, the cat launches herself between units, clinging onto windowpanes and falling several metres between floors.

The clip was purports to show firefighters in Rio de Janeiro attempting to rescue the animal, which tried to evade capture, desperately scrambling to get away, risking her life in the process.

Although the rescue probably did not go quite as planned, the tale did have a happy ending.

As the animal fell to the ground, firefighters were able to catch her with an outstretched blanket.

A member of staff at the animal shelter where the cat was then taken told the Dodo that the animal suffered no broken bones and is expected to soon be reunited with her owner.
