Bosses have announced that new child actor Bleu Landau will take over the role, from previous star Harry Hickles.

Harry Hickles has played Denny since 2012

A spokesperson for the soap said: "We wish Harry all the best for the future."

‘Denny’, as he is known to his mum, was introduced in 2012 when Sharon returned to the Square, having been born off-screen in 2006.

However, fans would be forgiven for not realising that the youngster was still in the soap, as Denny has spent most of the past year “up in his bedroom”, or failing to even be mentioned.

His lack of screen time even prompted a memorable Twitter campaign to find the ‘missing’ child.

It isn’t the first time bosses have replaced young actors with new ones, with Ben Mitchell being the most recent recast.

Harry Reid took over the role from Joshua Pascoe last year, who’d actually replaced original actor Charlie Jones.

The parts of Lucy and Peter Beale were also played by a variety of child actors before the most recent incarnations, played by Hetti Bywater and Ben Hardy respectively.

While it also may seem impossible to imagine anyone else as Lauren Branning other than Jacqueline Jossa, Madeline Duggan first played the part when her family was introduced to the Square in 2006.

The new Denny will be seen on screen from next week’s episodes.
