Caitlyn Jenner Reacts To The Halloween Costume Mocking Her In A Very Unexpected Way

Caitlyn Jenner has raised eyebrows after comments she made in an interview with NBC's the Today Show.

The ex-Olympian made a series of remarks, and issued a response to the Halloween costume that parodied her own transition, of which more than 16,000 people signed a petition on Change.org urging its removal.

During the interview with Matt Lauer, she also reflected upon issues of tolerance within the transgender community.

Caitlyn Jenner has spoken out about those Halloween costumes

Approaching the topic of the costumes, Lauer asked: "When you hear that there are companies out there that want to do Caitlyn Jenner costumes for Halloween from the Vanity Fair cover, are you in on the joke or do you think it's offensive?"

Jenner responded: "I'm in on the joke. No, I don't think it's offensive at all."

Her comments come after the director of advocacy group Garden State Equality called for a boycott of the product last month, stating: "This, in a year where 19 transgender women in the United States have been murdered.

"We aren't a joke. We aren't a costume. We aren't disposable."

It didn't take the Twitterverse long to react to Jenner's comments and many were upset by the remarks:

During the interview Jenner also highlighted the importance of tolerance in the trans community after Lauer admitted his own nerves.

"Do you understand why somebody would be nervous, because you don't want to say the wrong thing?" he asked.

Jenner responded: "To be honest I'm the easiest on people, now the community are like oh my god you have to get the pronouns right - you have to do this - you have to do that.

"I'm much more tolerant about that."
